「VILLAIN」作为The Crane第二张专辑的前导单曲，以另类摇滚的曲式展现The Crane的不同风貌。歌曲讲述一段已然瓦解的感情，「我成为故事中的坏人，好让你得到如雷掌声」如同当代人公诸於世的感情生活，事情见仁见智，但总有人得担任反派。

灵感来自网路知名语录「就算是再好的人，只要有在好好努力，在某人的故事里也会变成坏人。」——漫画「猫之寺的知恩姐」。The Crane在2024年的一则社群影片中撷取了该语录，并延伸创作出「VILLAIN」这首歌，如今配合新专辑将其完整呈现。
